My favorite Seussian character, The Lorax. |
Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday! We had a lovely day at the Clinton Presidential Museum. Out of the group, I'm probably the most enthusiastic Seuss fan. I was very excited for the opening of this exhibit, The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss. The exhibit spans 7 decades of Theodor Seuss Geisel's work.

Of course you can expect to see various incarnations of his classic characters, the Lorax, the Cat in the Hat, and others. Although I wouldn't say this is an exhibit strictly for kids (or even mostly for kids). They are having Seuss Saturdays with special events for kiddos.
You can also take a peak at Geisel's early advertising work. I loved seeing the old newspapers with Geisel's political cartoons. Little bits of history.

My favorite of the exhibit was the art deco section. After the Seuss exhibit, we strolled around the Clinton Museum because we had actually never been in despite being locals. I was very impressed. I loved looking at all the gifts from around the world.

That sounds like a great exhibit - I also loved the Lorax character... "I am the lorax. I speak for the trees!" I'll never forget that line!
