Been doing a lot of hooking lately. Here's my latest FO. Made with Manos Del Uruguay (lovely!) Maxima and the Bonita hat pattern from Tales From the Hook. I think it goes well with my recently dyed red hairs.

Fall Crafts
A reenactment of my previous experiences with wreaths: "Oooo, pretty!" "Want it!" *Looks at price tag* "Yeah, no way. I could totally make that myself for waaay less than that." *Goes home, forgets about it, repeat*
I've seen a lot of gorgeous homemade wreaths on pinterest(how cute is this one?), so I finally decided to give it a try. Here's my result.

A Tutorial Tuesday: Vintage Linens Pocket Notebooks
Since my last post where I shared my altered moleskin notebook, I've been going a bit crazy with making little notebooks. I have lots of vintage linens -pillowcases, sheets, napkins, hankies, you name it. I think they have such lovely patterns and colors so why not feature them on a little pocket notebook? I've written up a simple tutorial.

a little bit of sewin'
Everywhere I go I take a little notebook and pencil with me. I have dozens of these things. All filled with scribbles, sketches, and whatever random thing I deem worthy of remembering. I buy a lot of cutesie notebooks but I also adore the plain little moleskines. They get the job done and they have a pocket. I am a big fan of pockets. Everywhere. Pockets.

FO: Cardiff Cowl
My first FO for the new year and I'm thrilled. This Cardiff Cowl worked up so quickly. The free pattern is from Lion Brand. I enjoyed this pattern, the only design aspect I disliked is the seam in the middle. Thankfully, it's not noticeable when wearing it. Next time I might try a different cast on method rather than just chain stitches. I hope my recipient likes her present!
Mmmm, cashmere blend yarn.
I might just have to make one for myself!

Kitschy and crafty earrings for me and etsy!

A month ago, I had my earlobes re-pierced. I haven't worn earrings since I was thirteen! Truth be told I'm a bit squeamish about needles (funny, with the tattoos, right?). I amused my piercer with the tale about how I ripped my earlobe (motorcycle helmet).
I've been super excited to make my own earrings. I made some of these for myself and an extra pair for the etsy shop! Simple, but that suits my style. I think they're adorable.

And I made a little ring, too!

Penny the Panda
Amigurumi goodness!
I needed a break from the boardwalk skirt I've been working on obsessively so, I found this pattern on the Lion Brand website. It was simple and quick. SC can seem to take forever occasionally but, it's suitable for television crocheting or CUI (crocheting under the influence *wink wink*).
My Penny was made while watching an incredibly long episode of Top Gear and the movie Jaws (which has to be watched during July, naturally). I followed the pattern exactly except for felting Penny. I also added a cute little flower yo-yo for extra sweetness.

Ah, finally... a completed sewing project. I'm quite proud of this one, even though I literally hit a snag here and there. But, one broken needle later and many glances at the manual and I have this retro beauty.
I'm not new to sewing but, I'd still call myself a beginner. I used the folk bag pattern from the book, One Yard Wonders (which means this purse only cost me $12 to make!) The instructions were easy to follow and I learned a much smarter way to make a pocket and insert a lining. I'm going to make another one of these bags with the Heather Ross ponies fabric I've been saving. I had a bit of fabric left over so maybe a matching ipod case or card wallet is to follow.
